Wintery Weather

Hat (here), Boots (here), Bag and Jumper | Topshop. Coat | H&M. Jeans | New Look.

Yes!! Finally some wintery weather - we were even graced with some snow late Boxing Day night, which I loved!
There's nothing better than dressing for the colder weather. Lots of layers, cosy hats and oversized coats. I was lucky enough to get a few days off over the Christmas Period so I spent them eating lots of food, drinking lots of wine and enjoying a few wintery walks.

This oversized jumper was very comfy after over indulging and these boots have to be the best purchase I have ever made. They were a pay day treat a few weeks ago but it was LOVE at first sight so I had to have them. I finished the look off with a super cosy beanie - a winter must have.
I'm now looking forward to New Years Eve - keep posted for an outfit post featuring lots of sparkle.

Last minute christmas gift guide...

It's only two more sleeps till the big day and I'm sure many of you are still frantically looking for the perfect gift idea. I myself usually leave my shopping till Christmas eve but this year I'm somewhat organised - this is a surprise I have to say.
I have put together a small selection of gift ideas which I'm sure any girl would love.

The Sartorialist Closer book - this was a gift I received from my sister last year, it's perfect for style inspiration.
The Body Shop Hemp Protector range is perfect for this time of year it smell gorgeous and leaves your hands super soft.
Sainsbury's Taste the Difference Prosecco - A girl always loves bubbles and what better way to celebrate the festive season.
Topshop Leggings - These sparkly leggings are sure to get any girl in the dancing mood and no doubt grab some attention whilst sipping a cocktail or two.
Claire's Accessories Nail Polish - I love a dark nail colour during the winter months, these three colours (teal, ruby and magenta) are my favourites.

This Christmas I'm going to be spending some quality time with family and friends and no doubt indulge in way to much food and drink. *note to self - if anyone asks I had two mince pies not three.
Merry Christmas
With Love

Pinstripes and Pom Poms

Coat and Shirt (here) | H&M. Denim Jacket | Levi's (vintage). Trousers (here) | Dorothy Perkins. Shoes (here) and Bag. Topshop.

It all go at the moment hence the lack of blog posts! But I did manage to snap these somewhat formal pictures this cold (but sunny!) Saturday Morning. Yes - I've been buying more shoes this time its these ever so adorable velvet slippers with the cutest little pom poms!!
Teamed with a new pair of pinstripe trousers and oversized white shirt I felt a little Mia Wallace (AKA Uma Thurman in Pulp Fiction). It you haven't seen this cult classic its a must see. Possibly Quentin Tarantino's best work, plus you must see the dancing scene at Jack Rabbit Slim's Dinner - just brilliant!

two years later....

Jumper | Primark. Jeans | New Look. Boots | Topshop (here)

My blog has been an official part of my life (and the online community) for two years!!

Over the last year my life has continued to change and most of this has been documented on this small part of the Internet. I've started University, carried out my first Fashion Buying placement and most recently moved in with my beautiful boyfriend of seven years, Mark.
As things in my life continue to change (for the better) I always have Faye Elizabeth Fashion Journal. Through the Summer it kept me entertained for the endless months of no Uni and now life is hectic I am wanting to blog more and more. What has kept me going for the two years is creating new posts with inspiring content for you amazing readers. I'm constantly trying to find new and interesting trends, news and style inspiration to share.
If there's anything you would like me to share please let me know.

My goal for the next year is to blog more of my personal style. I love to do this - even though I get slightly embarrassed posing in front of the camera (I'm more awkward than photogenic.)
I have always compared my blog to others in the past but as I grow older I have learnt to love my work for its individuality.
I have one last thing to say and that is THANK YOU to you the readers, your what keeps me going most of all.
Here's to many more years of blogging!

Love

A love affair with Elle

(Winona Ryder cover - July 2009, Kirsten Dunst cover - September 2011, Drew Barrymore cover - October 2006 (21st Birthday collectors issue), Kate Hudson cover - October 2010 (25th Birthday collectors issue), Emma Watson cover - December 2014.

As you can see from the photographs above I've been collecting my beloved Elle magazine for a number of years. If you follow me on Instagram you'll know that I recently moved house and transporting my collection was a challenging task - there are eighty five of them after all. The journey from my family home to the new pad involved my boyfriend suggesting using them as kindling for the log burning stove. Ha! How dare he, they are my pride and joy! The conversation ended with me saying I will literally be the girl who lived in her Elle Magazines.

I have read a variety of magazines in the past from Cosmopolitan to Vogue but Elle has always been my monthly staple. For the last few years Santa has been kind enough to supply me with a subscription giving me exclusive subscriber covers delivered straight to my door. Elle has something every girl or women can relate to - beautiful fashion shoots, street style edits, inspirational writing and one of my favourite monthly columns - Fit Notes.

Elle is constantly exciting its readers, a recent design change both in my monthly glossy and online look fantastic. Elleuk.com offers readers an insight into the #ellefashioncupboard a space filled with designer delights. I can't get enough of the What Elle Wears feature, each week the beautiful Elle team are photographed in their work attire. I will no doubt be reading Elle for the next ten years and I can't wait to see how the magazine develops.
*note to self - where am I going to keep them?

New Loves

I just LOVE finding new fashion designers and this week it happened whilst flicking through The Sunday Telegraphs fashion and lifestyle installment 'Stella'.
Mother of Pearl, a London based fashion label who has created an amazing collection inspired by the prints of textile designer William Morris. The designs by Mother of Pearl have a somewhat historical influence - frilled midi sleeves and pussy bow blouses. The collection has modern yet feminine elements and the William Morris prints make the collection aesthetically perfect. A definite new designer I will be keeping a close eye on in the upcoming season.

University attire

Bag and T-shirt | Topshop. Jeans | New Look. Coat | H&M. Trainers | Nike (JD Sports)

Considering I spend a large amount of my time at University I figured why not share my university apparel. For me everyday items have to be effortless, casual and comfortable - but with a little added twist. At the moment these Nike dual fusion trainers make an appearance on a daily basis giving my outfit a splash of colour. Teamed with some blue jeans, an oversized coat and tartan scarf - I'm ready for lectures and the cold weather.
Happy November!

It's a (faux) FUR thing!

Shrimps Autumn/Winter 2014
Shrimps A|W14 Image source | vogue.co.uk
Fur Clutch | Zara

FUR SNOOD WITH CONTRAST DOTS
Fur Scarf | Zara
 Fur Coat | Topshop

Everywhere I look I see FUR. Coats, bags, shoes, scarfs the list goes on. This months ELLE even dedicated a page to the fast growing trend. Fur shoes have even become a topic in my university class room (mixed views were expressed.) All this brightly coloured Fur is making me want to jump on the band wagon and join in the fun. Ever so many hours have been spent trolling my favourite shopping apps trying to find the perfect piece. However much I love this trend I'm guessing it could be another fashion fad (a few years ago I was mocked for loving a pair of fur strappy sandals!) On the other hand this year has seen many new emerging designers dedicating their entire collections to fur - Charlotte Simone, Shrimps and Helen Moore. Only time will tell.....fingers crossed!

Outfits Reinvented

Trousers, Skirt and Shoes | Topshop. Jumper | Primark. Bag | Vintage.

Sorry for the lack of posts lately - returning to University has proven somewhat stressful. I'm in my second year and yes there seems to be a whole lot more pressure (and assignments.) Anyway, I finally had time to take some outfit photos - YAY! I'm trying to reinvent my wardrobe and try new ways of styling my old possibly over worn garments. Here goes - skirt over trousers. A trend seen on the Prada catwalks many many moons ago (Fall 2012 to be precise) but I wanted to put my own spin on it. Making the trousers skinny and the skirt shorter but keeping the structure. I complemented the ever growing colder season with a loose roll neck and vintage clutch.
I love this outfit! The navy and black compliment each other and the clutch adds a neutral touch. Overall the perfect Sunday outfit.

Everyday Essentials

I've never been one of those girls who looks flawless all day long - however much I try. By the end of a busy working day my make-up often boarders on the grungy side than perfectionist.
I do like to keep my make-up quick and simple for an everyday look this has lots to do with pressing snooze on my alarm clock excessively and then having to rush to get ready.
When in a rush these are my go to essentials.

1. All in One Cheek colour in Guava by The Body Shop
I can't get enough of this rosy pink blush from The Body shop. I never leave the house without a brush on each cheek - it brings me to life. I love the bold pink colour and it lasts pretty much all day. Plus it's not tested on Animals.

2. Super Volume Mascara in Black by The Body Shop
This Mascara by The Body Shop is pretty new to my cosmetic bag. It does a great job of lengthening lashes as well as adding volume and is great to finish off that dark, smoky eyed look. One negative, it does stay wet for quite sometime so avoid sneezing after applying or it may involve looking like a panda (speaking from experience).

3. Bad Gal Liner in Black by Benefit
This has been a make-up bag staple since I was eighteen, it creates just what it says a Bad Gal eye look when applied (above and below the eye) with lashings of black mascara.
4. Colour Stay Liquid Liner in Black by Revlon
Its taken me sometime to master the art of liquid liner. I strayed very far away from it until about the last 12 months. What I can say is thats its taken me about that time to get a neat even look on both eyes. This Colour Stay liquid by Revlon has a slim applicator and lasts pretty much all day.

5. Superbalanced Foundation in Alabaster by Clinique
This is probably my most expensive cosmetic but its worth every penny. I've used cheaper foundations in the past and noticed them fade throughout the day (Plus it lasts me six months!). This one creates a natural clear look but still feels light.

6. Lip Balm in Cherry by Carmex
A much needed item during the colder months plus this cherry one smells delicious.

7. Simply Sensitive Hydrating Moisturiser by Boots
Suffering from eczema I've struggled to find a moisturiser that doesn't irritate and dry out my skin. I love everything in this boots own brand range and it also creates a great base for my foundation.

8. Simply Sensitive Hydrating Eye Cream by Boots
A cooling and hydrating eye cream for both late nights and hungover mornings.

9. Skin WOW Highlighter by Seventeen
Perfect for cheeks and brows, this highlighter makes my skin glow. Perfect for holidays and summer evenings!

Whats goodies could you and your make-up bag not live without? x
