Birthdays....

Over the years birthdays have become somewhat different, I know longer get over excited as I did as a teen. However I do look forward to spending time with loved ones and receiving some lovely gifts. This year it turns out my friends and family know me very well. Fashion magazines, gift cards for my favourite high-street store, bath time treats and my best gift yet a new camera. I can't wait to take some great pictures for the blog. My day was spent enjoying wine and some lovely pub grub with the boy followed by cake and a movie.
Keep posted this weekend I'll be donning my hunters and heading to The Chatsworth Country Fair.

Lets talk TRENDS (Part II)

 Sportmax A|W14, Prada A|W14, Tom Ford A|W14, Valentino A|W14

As I glance through my colour coordinated wardrobe, I notice the lack of colour there is. This is partly brought on by how large the black and navy sections are-there's just something effortless and simple about darker colours. (That coupled with the fact I'm not too sure that I can carry colour off.) I would love to be one of those people who wears beautiful bright coloured clothing and look amazing. When I've tried wearing colour in the past I've felt overdressed and fussy. Okay, this post is getting rather cynical so I should definitely get to the point.

RED
Autumn|Winter is a great time to add colour to an outfit. It not only brightens up your look but your mood too, right?
RED was all over the A|W14 catwalks with a variety of shades to choose from-ruby, scarlet, crimson...the list goes on! I think the trick to wearing colour is to keep it simple, mix with darker muted tones and make use of clean, classic lines. Or if you dare take the Sportmax route and wow with an all red number. Textured red is also another way to go. I love how Prada and Tom Ford have created beautiful bold red pieces in luxurious silk and velvet fabrics.
Here's to a colour filled Winter! (one's hoping)

In the light

Jacket and Skirt | H&M. Top | Topshop. Trainers | Nike

Sometimes you have those days when you choose and outfit and in your head you think it looks great but in reality it turns out rather different. So I'm sure you've clicked on to the fact that I'm not 100 percent sure on this outfit. The black and white photos however have turned out rather great so I thought I'd share them with you.
Happy Monday...

The EDIT | The Roll Neck

Image 5 of HIGH-NECK, CABLE KNIT SWEATER from Zara

As we speak it's raining outside and it's even getting colder, yesterday I wore a jumper for work...in August! I know you've heard it before but this has me excited for Winter.
Last year I loved the chunky roll neck sweaters that the fashion elite were sporting, but somehow I struggled to find one I loved.
This year I started my search early and I have found 'the one'! This super chunky, oversized number from Zara (here) will keep me cosy throughout the winter months. The chunky knit is a wardrobe staple either teamed with skinny jeans, a fitted skirt or a floaty dress it gives that minimalistic look I'm always pinning for. Perfection!!

Beside the seaside

 Shirt and Top | Topshop. Shorts | Levi's. Bag | Warehouse. Shoes | Superga. Sunglasses | Claire's.
A very rare Saturday off work called for a road trip with the boy and where better than the Great British seaside. My favourite Yorkshire seaside town has to be Whitby, a beautiful little fishing town on the North coast.
I love Whitby for its antique shops, pretty cottages, great Fish and Chips and of course the rainbow coloured beach houses.Whitby is mainly known for being the place were Bram Stoker wrote his horror novel Dracula. The town definitely has a spooky, historic feel with cobbled streets, quirky shops and amazing ruins of Whitby Abbey.
Luckily Saturday was warm and Sunny so all the great seaside tasks were carried out, picnic, walk on the beach etc.... all in all a lovely day was had. Till next time Bonn Voyage Whitby.

This Week I'm Listening to......Eminem - The Marshall Mathers LP 2

Usually music is just background noise, whilst driving, reading or attending to the chores of daily life but not this one.
It's been a while since I've done a 'this week I'm listening to post'. I may say this is down to the fact that I have fallen out of love with music. Yes there's some great pop/dance tracks out that are great to dance to come Saturday night, but I've been craving something I can really get my teeth into.
I may be a little late on the mark with this title but this album is worth the hotly anticipated wait.
EMINEM is back, back with a BANG!!
It may sound somewhat cliche but this album is lyrical genius, with all tracks having a deeper meaning. This album is definitely not background noise this is Eminem rapping at his best. I truly suggest you slow down and take a well deserved listen. Eminem has really put blood, sweat and tears into a fantastic album. And yes Eminem is still one of the coolest (and hottest) guys out there (in my books anyway).
Here's a few of my favourite tracks.

Windswept

Sunglasses here and Nail Polish (pale lilac) here | Claire's. Top here, Shirt here, Jeans and Bag | Topshop. Shoes | Superga here.

It was a rather windy day but with limited time to take blog photos (busy schedules and all) it had to be done. This raglan style top was an impulse purchase on my lunch hour but unlike some impulse purchases I have no regrets. Even if I do resemble Johnny Knoxville from Jackass plus mockery from the boyfriend doesn't help.
