S/S13 Trend Notes: WHITE ON WHITE

Givenchy, Alexander Wang and Chloe S/S13

As the Spring/Summer season is now upon us I thought I'd bring you another trend which was seen all over the S/S13 catwalks.
WHITE......a daring trend, but chic, classic and effortless. Many designers chose white in their collection this spring, but all different from one another.

Chloe created pure white designs with added flounce to dress hemlines and to blouse sleeves along with soft structure and lots of femininity.

At Marni we saw lots of layers and a very beautiful oversized peplum. Stunning V necks flowed effortlessly over models and the pristine white shorts they wore.

White separates with beautiful textures graced the catwalk at Mulberry. The classic tuxedo in gorgeous soft but crisp white fabric and a 1970's twist, the playsuit with lace and print detail.

If your like me and could probably not survive the day in top to toe white without spilling something on it. Just add a crisp white shirt to trousers, jeans or a skirt. I recently purchased a the most beautiful detailed white shirt.

So I'm still loving Instagram, (its pretty much an addiction now) so I decided to share a few of my favourite images with you. I just love finding different things in my life to take pictures of and document it, kind of like a journal.

Black and White Memories.......

I recently got given a vintage camera from my dad, its the camera I remember from my childhood. Him taking photographs of me, my sister and my mum when I was young are fond memories.
Its a pretty retro camera that uses film, colour or black and white. It even has a giant flash which looks so cool. I love using a film it means a photo can never be deleted unlike the digital world of today. Every photo has to be perfect.
Me and my beautiful little camera....

When I have processed my photographs  I will share them on here so keep posted....

Faye's Edit: Blue shoes

I don't know what it is about a bright shoe, but its just makes any outfit look amazing.
Being a lover of blue shoes myself (with 3 pairs in my closet already) I am very excited to see the blue shoe trend return this season. Browsing street style images is something I love to do, and the streets certainly had some of the most amazing blue shoes.......

Pair cobalt tights with teal shoes and make your legs stand out.
 Oh, those blue patent shoes!
Bet on eye-catching blue to brighten up your styles.

Today I'm Wearing.....

I think Spring has finally arrived (thank goodness its' been winter forever) and today the sun is out! So I decided to ditch the tights (a staple winter item) and show of my rather pale skin. I can't yet leave my woolly hats behind tho I love them too much.

This week I’m listening to…….
Haim – ‘Falling’

I love the new single ‘Falling’ (I have it on repeat constantly….) by Californian sibling trio ‘Haim’. The band topped the BBC’s Sound of 2013 chart early this year and their music sound is a mix of girly folk rock.
‘Falling’ has a catchy and unique sound; it has that kind of 80’s feel to it.
I’m looking forward to the band’s debut album out later this year.  The girls also have a bohemian and quirky sense of style (which I love), very Californian.

Sophie Ryder @ Cartwright Hall
After a trip to Cartwright Hall I was inspired to write about contemporary artist and sculpture Sophie Ryder. Her work was amazing! Her large scale wire drawings are inspired by both animals and the human body and created using a mixture of wire and bronze.

Trend Notes: Spring/Summer13

'90's Grunge'

Left to right - Ashish S/S13, Driers Van Noten S/S13, 3.1 Philip Lim S/S13

I'm ready to try out the new S/S13 trends (its just a shame the weather isn't ready for it) and this is already one of my faves.... Grunge!!
From high waist denim cut offs and crop tops to camo jackets and biker boot's I'm LOVING it.
On the Catwalks of Spring/Summer13 we saw many designers putting a twist on the grunge trend. My favourites were seen at 3.1 Philip Lim, Dries Van Noten and Ashish, these designers have all created some amazing designs.

Dries Van Noten went all out with plaid and layers, theirs just something about plaid that creates a relaxed yet cool look and layers are essential for any grunge girl (I often team my camo jacket with my boyfriends oversized hoody). I loved the plaid wrap dress and sheer plaid blouses teamed with more plaid for that striking catwalk image.

Philip Lim went for oversized tees, dungarees (in magenta pink) and sheer dresses showing a little midriff (another grunge essential)Magenta pink aside colours were kept neutral with mainly blacks and whites.

Lastly Ashish, who teamed patchwork oversized denim with the classic 90's hair accessory 'The Scrunchy''! The models look true 90's with messy top knots in black and white scrunchies.

Give the 90's grunge look a go for yourself.....
Top grunge girl essentials:
Denim Jacket
Biker Boots
Plaid Shirt
Beanie Hat
Mini Skirt
and if you dare The Scrunchy...

Have fun!
