It's a (faux) FUR thing!

Everywhere I look I see FUR. Coats, bags, shoes, scarfs the list goes on. This months ELLE even dedicated a page to the fast growing trend. Fur shoes have even become a topic in my university class room (mixed views were expressed.) All this brightly coloured Fur is making me want to jump on the band wagon and join in the fun. Ever so many hours have been spent trolling my favourite shopping apps trying to find the perfect piece. However much I love this trend I'm guessing it could be another fashion fad (a few years ago I was mocked for loving a pair of fur strappy sandals!) On the other hand this year has seen many new emerging designers dedicating their entire collections to fur - Charlotte Simone, Shrimps and Helen Moore. Only time will tell.....fingers crossed!

Outfits Reinvented

Trousers, Skirt and Shoes | Topshop. Jumper | Primark. Bag | Vintage.

Sorry for the lack of posts lately - returning to University has proven somewhat stressful. I'm in my second year and yes there seems to be a whole lot more pressure (and assignments.) Anyway, I finally had time to take some outfit photos - YAY! I'm trying to reinvent my wardrobe and try new ways of styling my old possibly over worn garments. Here goes - skirt over trousers. A trend seen on the Prada catwalks many many moons ago (Fall 2012 to be precise) but I wanted to put my own spin on it. Making the trousers skinny and the skirt shorter but keeping the structure. I complemented the ever growing colder season with a loose roll neck and vintage clutch.
I love this outfit! The navy and black compliment each other and the clutch adds a neutral touch. Overall the perfect Sunday outfit.

Everyday Essentials

I've never been one of those girls who looks flawless all day long - however much I try. By the end of a busy working day my make-up often boarders on the grungy side than perfectionist.
I do like to keep my make-up quick and simple for an everyday look this has lots to do with pressing snooze on my alarm clock excessively and then having to rush to get ready.
When in a rush these are my go to essentials.

1. All in One Cheek colour in Guava by The Body Shop
I can't get enough of this rosy pink blush from The Body shop. I never leave the house without a brush on each cheek - it brings me to life. I love the bold pink colour and it lasts pretty much all day. Plus it's not tested on Animals.

2. Super Volume Mascara in Black by The Body Shop
This Mascara by The Body Shop is pretty new to my cosmetic bag. It does a great job of lengthening lashes as well as adding volume and is great to finish off that dark, smoky eyed look. One negative, it does stay wet for quite sometime so avoid sneezing after applying or it may involve looking like a panda (speaking from experience).

3. Bad Gal Liner in Black by Benefit
This has been a make-up bag staple since I was eighteen, it creates just what it says a Bad Gal eye look when applied (above and below the eye) with lashings of black mascara.
4. Colour Stay Liquid Liner in Black by Revlon
Its taken me sometime to master the art of liquid liner. I strayed very far away from it until about the last 12 months. What I can say is thats its taken me about that time to get a neat even look on both eyes. This Colour Stay liquid by Revlon has a slim applicator and lasts pretty much all day.

5. Superbalanced Foundation in Alabaster by Clinique
This is probably my most expensive cosmetic but its worth every penny. I've used cheaper foundations in the past and noticed them fade throughout the day (Plus it lasts me six months!). This one creates a natural clear look but still feels light.

6. Lip Balm in Cherry by Carmex
A much needed item during the colder months plus this cherry one smells delicious.

7. Simply Sensitive Hydrating Moisturiser by Boots
Suffering from eczema I've struggled to find a moisturiser that doesn't irritate and dry out my skin. I love everything in this boots own brand range and it also creates a great base for my foundation.

8. Simply Sensitive Hydrating Eye Cream by Boots
A cooling and hydrating eye cream for both late nights and hungover mornings.

9. Skin WOW Highlighter by Seventeen
Perfect for cheeks and brows, this highlighter makes my skin glow. Perfect for holidays and summer evenings!

Whats goodies could you and your make-up bag not live without? x

Fashion and Events Lecture

Josef Jammerbund - The British Fashion Council - Head of Events

The best thing about being a fashion student is the opportunities. In the last year I have worked with Trend Bible and learnt about future consumer trends, contributed to the Universities Creative Arts blog. Worked on placement as a Assistant Buyers Assistant at The Baird Group (BMB) a Menswear brand company and last week I attended a very informative lecture about both fashion and events management within the fashion industry.
Two speakers took to the stage to speak about their chosen career paths. Firstly Tracy Martin 'Collectable Names in Fashion' was her lecture title. Tracy has written a variety of books and worked with the BBC on Flog it and ITV's This Morning. Her lecture informed us of her love for vintage fashion and she spoke about her favourite designs through the decades. Coco Chanel, Jacques Fath, Ossie Clark and Elsa Schiaparelli to name a few.
Next to the stage was Josef Jammerbund Head of Events for The British Fashion Council. Josef talked about working for The British Fashion Council on a variety of amazing fashion calender events. Including of course London Fashion Week, London Fashion Weekend, London collections Men and The British Fashion Awards to name a few.
The lecture was very insightful followed by a Q&A with the speakers who answered students questions and gave advice on how to get into the industry. 'Networking' was their best tip. Overall a fun filled lecture on what was a very rainy Thursday night. I can't wait for the next one!!

The New Classics

Trainers | Nike. Coat | H&M. Jeans and Top | Topshop. Clutch | Vintage
White trainers. They seem to be everywhere at the moment, the front row at fashion week and on bloggers and fashionista’s outside on the streets of London. I've been a fan (of trainers) for as long as I can remember even donning a pair of Adidas Campus in my team netball photo circa 1998. Recently these Nike Air Force 1 sneaks have become my go to wardrobe staple. Teamed with skinny jeans or mini skirts they gave me that much needed spring in my step for 9:15am lectures. They have  been on the blog a few times in the past but I thought they now deserved a post devoted to them.  If they were good enough for NWA in the 80’s then they’re good enough for me now!
