London Fashion Week came to a close on Tuesday (quietly sobs, but hey on to Milan) and this year so much was on offer. After a few days of frantically checking both Instagram and Twitter for  updates it's time to give you (well what I think was) the best of #LFW.
Many of my usual designer favourite's created some of their best collections yet and I also fell in love with a few new designers.
Beautiful digital prints and luxe fabrics at Christopher Kane and leather, fur and layers at Topshop Unique. I don't know what it is but every season these two designers fail to disappoint. So modern, feminine, sleek and maybe even classic (time will tell).
Next on to a few newbies (at least to me anyway). Peter Pilotto, 3 words, fabric, fur and colour. Winter often leaves us feeling grey, but not with these amazing pieces on our sleeves.
Lastly a designer I lack knowledge of but keen to find out more...Issa.  I just love the frills, chunky jumpers and statement printed flowers, there's something very 70's about them.
My 3 LFW Loves
Colour
Layers
and Prints.
It may be a while before we see these trends in the shops, but I will definitely be experimenting with what's out there (and in my little, slightly messy wardrobe).

Sugar, spice and all things nice....

Happy Valentines Day.

Valentines day is just one sleep away (and in keeping with tradition, yes last year I made shortbread hearts) I thought I'd cook up some delicious baked goods. I tend not to bake too often due to the fact I end up eating it all. I'm sticking to this healthy lifestyle thing even if my will power fails me and I don't update my fitness planner app with that cheeky slice of pizza.

Me and my man don't tend to celebrate Valentines in a big, big way, we've spent many a valentines together, we have been together for nearly 8 years (gosh it's crazy saying it out loud, but amazing). A cozy night in with lots of wine and great conversation is fine with me.
Also I do kinda see it as a little bit of a money making scheme, Note to self: stop being so cynical.
Anyway I also think Valentines isn't just for the love or lover of your life, its a chance to tell those we care about, that we 'Love' them. Or just taking time out to appreciate our loved ones.
Anyway however you're spending your Friday I hope its a great one.

Rhubarb Love Cakes
Ingredients
You'll need one 12-hole muffin tin.
12 Cupcake cases
115g golden caster sugar
115g self-raising flour
115g butter
½tsp baking powder
80ml milk
2 eggs, room temperature
1 teaspoon lemon juice

The cream topping
100ml double cream
100ml cream cheese
20g icing sugar

The rhubarb bit
2 rhubarb stalks, chopped into 1in pieces
20g golden caster sugar

How to make

Preheat the oven to 180C|160c fan| gas mark 6. Grease the muffin tin with butter or fill the tin with cupcake cases.

To make the rhubarb topping, lay the fruit in a shallow baking tray and sprinkle over the sugar. Bake for 15min in the oven. The fruit will be cooked but still hold its shape and colour. Leave to cool till later.

Mix all the sponge ingredients together with an electric or hand whisk until you have a lovely smooth mixture. Spoon the mix evenly into eight of the holes or cases in the muffin tin.

Bake in the preheated oven for about 20- 25mins until a skewer inserted in the centre of a cake comes out clean. Remove cakes from tin and cool on a rack.

Whip the topping ingredients together until stiff and voluptuous.

Spread the cream evenly over the top of each cooled cake. Carefully layer two chunks (or one) of rhubarb on top of the cream. Sprinkle with a little icing sugar.

Cook up a batch this weekend. Enjoy x
P.S Tomorrow may be Valentines day but its also the start of London Fashion Week.*checks instagram for updates frantically. Yey!!!

Shape, Texture and Print

Whistles SS14 Look Book
Whistles, known for its clean lines, classic shapes and one off inspirational pieces is a brand I have always loved.
When I was given the opportunity to create a 'mini range' for a university assignment I had to choose Whistles. Whilst researching my chosen brand I found these amazing SS14 Look Book pictures and had to share them with you.
These designs are true to the Whistles brand. Three words come to mind, shape, texture and print.
Pastel colours are seen throughout the look book with clean lines, luxurious fabrics, unique prints and feminine silhouettes. I love the 90's vibe the collection gives off, especially the camisole dresses and metallic backpacks.
I'm about to say something I never thought I would say (due to the fact that I love Winter so much) but I'm so excited for summer!

The colour palette

Coat, Bag, Boots, Sunglasses & Skirt,Topshop | T-Shirt, H&M | Scarf, Dorothy Perkins

Gone is the colour..... Yes I'm back to my favourite colour pantone, blue, grey and black.
Oh I just can't help myself. But after observing these pictures and with a hint of sunshine peeking through the clouds (yes I'm actually suiting some sunglasses) these past two days, I may have to change my opinion about colour.
Yes I'm very pale (some may call in 'English Rose' or just true British) but colour does seem to do something to me style wise, especially Green. Unnoticeable my eyes are green not that these images portray that.
But colour does puts a spring in my step and may even brighten my skin tone. Here's to more colour....well maybe just greens.

P.S. I may be getting up to date with technology (or something like that). Now with a click of a button follow me on Instagram and Twitter.
