Christmas Kicks!

Lots of beautiful gifts were delivered by Santa this Christmas including these amazing Nike Air Force 1's!

I have loved these kicks for as long as I can remember and now have a pair to call my very own. These are going to look great with other items from my wardrobe and a few possible new purchases I may make in the January sales. 

My next task is going to be trying to keep them clean!! 

Other gifts Santa brought (I must have been good this year!) included my yearly staple christmas gift, my ELLE subscription, a gorgeous camo winter coat, purfume and a lovely note book for blogging notes and ideas!.

Claire Barrow

Shown at Fashion East's Spring/Summer 2013 show, Claire Barrow is an up and coming fashion designer who's work can only be described as androgynous meets sexy. Her work is designed for both males and females and she says "I don't want my work to be defined by gender" (ELLE, January 2013)

She paints everything from tequila bottles to legs of ham on to leather jackets and hand sketches on to skirts in her S/S13 collection . Her unisex clothing looks to be inspired by the rebel and punk eras but has her own unique stamp!

'Midnight in Paris'

I have being meaning to watch this film since its release in 2011 and all I can say is.... it was worth the wait!

 

'Midnight in Paris' directed by Woody Allen in 2011 is a beautiful movie about an aspiring writer on holiday in Paris. He has a love for Paris and the 1920's (like myself) and one night at the stroke of midnight he finds himself whisked back to his favourite decade. He enjoys the delights of the twenties,  money, parties and most of all glamour.

The costumes were truly inspiring, bust less silhouettes, dropped waistlines with lots of sparkle these all looked amazing during this very glamorous period.

 

The beautiful sights of Paris are displayed during the opening credits and have made me want to visit the amazing city even more

I have always loved the Woody Allen classics 'Manhattan' and 'Annie Hall' to name a few, I can now add 'Midnight in Paris' to that list!

A love for Illustration.....

I have always loved the beautiful fashion illustrations in Elle's monthly column 'Mademoiselle'. Whilst caring out some research for a fashion illustration assignment I found even more illustrations by the very talented Sabine Pieper.

Sabine’s illustrations are feminine and unique and fit perfectly in my monthly glossy. Her illustration are influenced by 'photograhic technics' and she loves to use a wide variety of  media.

Sneaks - His and Hers 

For my birthday a few months ago I was lucky enough to be bought a beautiful pair of Nike Air Max. They were spied a few weeks before and it was love at first sight! 
With their bright purples and pinks they funky up any outfit whether it be a simple pair of jeans or a printed dress. 

For him it was a pair of Air Jordan 4 Retro, purchased about two weeks ago I don't think they have been off his feet. This statement shoe adds style to jeans and a simple tee! 

 

Pop Talent - A*M*E

After reading about new pop talent A*M*E ( Pronounced Amy, real name Amita Kabba) in December's ELLE I knew I had to blog about her.
17 Year old A*M*E from London is influenced by early pop classics such as Destiny's Child and Toni Braxton and has spent the summer sharing the stage with the likes of JLS and Jessie J. 
Her new track 'Play the Game Boy' is a catchy pop track with a 1980's electro beat, its become an addictive listen for me. 
Not only is her sound distinctive so is her style, I love the bright and bold colours worn in her new video. Have a listen!

Trend Report -  Oriental Blossom

From Eastern influenced prints at Proenza Schouler to kimono collars in beautiful fabrics at Dries Van Noten, the oriental trend was seen all over the catwalks of Autumn/Winter 2012.

This has to be my favourite trend of the season, ever so I purchased an amazing oriental print kimono from my favourtie online auction site - eBay! 

My Kimono was eyed up over a year ago at my local Topshop, it was one of those items I should have purchased and later regretted. After many late night eBay searches there it was at at the bargain price of £17.99 -  brand new! 

All that's left is to wear it, with some amazing metallic pink shoes I picked up in the Topshop sale for £10!

'All That Glitters' 

Nail art was seen all over the catwalk's of Spring/Summer 13, from beautiful bejewelled nails at Meadham Kirchhoff to 90's rave art (in neon colours) at House of Holland. 

Whilst flicking through my ASOS December mag I came across this amazing nail art piece and after a rummage though my very large nail varnish collection and a trip to my local supermarket I decided to experiment for myself!

I started with a base coat of Collection 2000 No 60 - Midnight and then applied a top coat of Rimmel No 500 - Disco Ball. These glittery nails brighten up any dull weather winter may bring, they are also perfect for the ever so near Christmas season! 

The nail art trend is also popular around the college classroom......
