Throwback Thursday

Image Source | The Telegraph online

A frantic follower of fashion both past and present I couldn't help but share one of the greatest moments in fashion with you. Throwback to Spring 1999, Alexander McQueen created memorable show 'Number 13' using model Shalom Harlow as a human art piece. As the show came to a close the model revolved on a circular platform and two electronic robots sprayed black and yellow paint at the white sartorial canvas leaving the fashion packed crowd shocked and stunned. Shalom Harlow trained as a ballerina and as the industrial machines spray-paint the dress she tries to defend herself creating a drama piece within its self. After watching this show many times I still get goosebumps, a piece of fashion history was made. This was one of McQueen's earlier shows, for the rest of his career he aimed high and created more jaw dropping moments just like this one.
Alexander McQueen dared to be different, creating shows that were meant to be remembered.

Amongst the Greens and Blues

Dress and Shoes | Topshop Sunglasses | Claire's Accessories

This weekend we were greeted with some beautiful sunshine.....yey. It was definitely time to leave the long sleeves and tights behind and embrace the warmer weather. My favourite summer dress made it's way from the depths of my wardrobe, t-shirt style check, denim check, blue check, stripes check, it really does meet all the criteria of the perfect dress.
Topshop have designed some more great denim t-shirt dresses, great for this Spring|Summer season take a peak here.

Casual Friday

Denim Shirt | Vintage. Jeans | New Look. Shoes | River Island
I'm afraid I've never worked in an office environment and never appreciated casual Fridays, (unless non uniform at school counts) but I can imagine this is something one might wear on a day very close to the weekend. Cool, comfortable and casual.....slip on a pair of heels and you've done desk to the bar with just a hop, skip and a jump.
Anyway double denim seems to be my go-to-outfit at the moment, this couldn't be more classic(for me anyway), skinny jeans, denim shirt (boyfriends) and patent loafers.
The blog posts have become rather sparse recently, this may continue for the next couple of weeks due to looming uni deadlines *sobs quietly in the corner. I've certainly ready to say au revoir for a few months.

Sartorial through the camera lens

The Sartorialist by Scott Schuman was the first great photography blog I ever came across. You can see everything though his camera lens. Fashion, life, art......to name a few. Originally for me it was always about the clothes but after 4 years of following it has turned into something else, reading both his books may have impacted on this. Yes the clothes are still amazing, the people still stylish, but there's just something else about them....he captures something natural, something real.

'My interest is never to report on what people are wearing but in capturing my romantic take on what I have seen on the street. I find myself wanting to understand these individuals better. The result is the introduction of more tightly composed portraits that bring me closer to the true essence of the person whilst still capturing them as stylish subjects.'

After flicking through The Sartorialist Closer for many hours over the past couple of months. I have found some great images to love.

Follow the printed road...

Dress | Zara.  Bag | Kurt Geiger.  Mules | Topshop Unique
I've always been a lover of print and florals being my print of choice. This blue floral fabric tunic had me at hello!
A shirt/tunic dress is something I've being trying to hunt down for a while but until now they have been rather non existent. The only place one was ever going to find them was obviously Zara, known for their fast fashion (from design to store in a matter of weeks.) It was instantly purchased and the rest is history. No doubt it will become a Spring/Summer wardrobe (and blog) staple, I 'll defiantly be mixing it up with lots of layers (its still a little chilly for bare legs) as usual , jeans and jumpers etc...
My next fashion step is to try out this 'Sport Chic' trend I keep reading so much about, mixing glamour with sporty pieces. Here's to hoping I can pull it off!
*frantically pulls out high heels and sweater-shirt.
