Alice Archer an eye for detail

Design Inspiration - Alice looks to the brush strokes of Henri Fantin - Latour's flower paintings.

I love finding new, up and coming designers to love and the most recent addition to my ever growing list of designer talent is Alice Archer. Discovered whilst flicking through my monthly copy of Elle uk - Alice has an eye for detail when creating the most intricate and beautiful embroidery designs.
Alice says ' I really like creating labour intensive things' , labour intensive being the operative word as each embroidery stitch takes two days to programme into her computer.
Archer states her inspiration is taken from 19th century paintings and her design approach is that of a forensic one.

For me her designs are unique, intricate and beautiful to look at, my favourite piece has to be the denim jacket with the embroidered floral motif. It's not something you see everyday and that's what makes Alice one of London's most talked about young designers.

Weekend Inspiration #10

Last Sunday (post cocktail the night before) I snuggled up on the sofa and watched what can be only described as the best classic romance ever - LOVE STORY. If you haven't already seen it then I suggest you do, if not only to see the beautiful Ali MacGraw wearing some super stylish, preppy, 70's fashion.

The midriff saga

Shirt | Zara. Culottes | Primark. Sandals | Topshop.

Yes its finally summer so time to bear the midriff, right?
This is possibly the first time I'm trying this - both on the blog and in real life. But I have to say I'm loving it - but only with high waisted trousers, I'm still working on those rock solid abs (Yeah sure!)
After reading a variety of fashion fulled websites on how to bear the midriff  -  I decided to ignore them all and opted for that 'Baby' from dirty dancing look.
Next up culottes or cropped flares, whatever you want to call them I can't stop wearing this navy blue pair. Comfy and flattering what else can a girl ask for in a pair of trousers!

Man Repelling

Shirt | Next. Jeans | Topshop. Shoes | Marks and Spencer.

I say Man Repelling due to my current obsession with Leandra Medine aka the Man Repeller. If you haven't checked out her blog Man Repeller I suggest you do - she's definitely on the money concerning all things current and she gets top marks from me for style.
What is a man repeller you might ask, well according to the blog -
'she who outfits herself in a sartorially offensive mode that may result in repelling members of the opposite sex. Such garments include but are not limited to harem pants, boyfriend jeans, overalls, shoulder pads, full length jumpsuits, jewelry that resembles violent weaponry and clogs.'
If you are already aware of Leandra and her impeccable style you will note her inspiration of the above outfit. Oversized shirt, check, flared jeans, check, clogs, check! I don't think anyone can carry off personal style the way she does but we can all try - I know I am!

C is for colouring

Yes that's right I did say colouring. After a few days camping in the sunny lake district I have adopted a new hobby or should I say I've been reunited with felt tip pens and pretty designs to embellish.
These days it seems its not just for kids its for adults too! I found so many beautiful designs to choose from and apparently its classed as 'anti-stress therapy for busy people'. So far so good - I've actually  found the whole task very therapeutic and now I can stay inside the lines! YAY!
Happy Colouring!
