Hello colour

Coat, Jeans and Boots, Topshop, Tee, H&M, Clutch, River Island

In my opinion you can never possess too many winter coats, this is my number four and definitely my favourite. My style usually consists of muted colours, you know, black, navy, grey and lots of dark denim. So lime green is a first for me!
This coat was spotted one evening whist browsing through the Topshop app, it was love at first sight. However I never dreamed I would actually own it.....but luckily Christmas was around the corner and thanks to my brilliant boyfriend knowing just what I wanted,  it found its way to me....
Only by fate, it was the last one in the country!
I loved styling it up one Saturday with skinny's and boots. It gives the outfit (and a cold winter day) a bright spring vibe.

The S/S14 Trend Report

Jill Sander, Christopher Kane, Balmain

As I'm writing this I'm sat in a woolly jumper, socks and the heating on full, yes its 'cold up north'. So its crazy to think the Spring/Summer14 trend reports are out.
Its been a while since the S/S14 pieces graced the runways of NY, London, Milan and Paris, so its great to reminisce and see what the fashion pack have been saying about the trends we'll be wearing come April (or June if you're from were I'm from).

Fashion is Art
This season Fashion and Art came hand in hand, with beautiful Primary and Pantone colours in an array of prints and marks.  "It's all about energy, colour and optimism - three vital ingredients to bring your wardrobe bang up to date".  (ELLE, February 2014)
Art was worn on the sleeve of many this season from Chanel and Celine to Jill Sander and Versace.

Pretty Girl
S/S14 saw women become utterly feminine, candy colours, couture fabrics and lots of skin.
Women became girls, but girls with style to die for.
This spring/summer be that girly girl you've always wanted to be, go on you know you can!
The pretty girl was spotted at Christopher Kane, Burberry Prorsum and Mary Katrantzou.

Forever Denim
A trend that never goes out of style. Its been with us forever and never stops surprising us with its ever evolving ways.
This season Denim soared to new heights. It came in a range of sartorial pieces and thanks to Holly Fulton it even came with prints.
Embrace.

Trend Notes: The Parka

Coat, River Island, Jeans, Topshop, Trainers, Converse, Clutch, Kurt Geiger

Every year I say I'll buy the 'Perfect Parka' and after searching the high street high and low I end up disappointed. I do have a rather critical specification. Oversized fur hood, fur lining, the right colour green and the boyfriend fit that I just love.
This year I was in luck, thanks to River Island and since purchasing it a few months back I've barely left the house without it. Especially now winter is in full swing.
For me the Parka coat is what I would call a classic. That something that never goes out of style - a  wardrobe staple that can return each Autumn/Winter period.
It was thrown on one Sunday (in a rush, I was running late to meet the boyfriend) with a pair of skinny jeans and converse, but still manages to look pretty effortless if I do say so myself.

Goodbye 2013.... Bonjour 2014

My Christmas on Instagram
Wrapping gifts, gingerbread latte's, reindeer jumpers and gifts from Santa

Christmas really crept up on me this year (most of my Christmas shopping was done a mere two days before Christmas) guessing that's due to my busy schedule.
I just love Christmas, starting with tree trimming and mulled wine, receiving gifts from Santa, time with family and friends, that traditional church visit and singing Christmas carols. I just love to get the festivities in full swing.
Plenty of Christmas movies have been watched (ask my boyfriend he's defiantly had enough of watching Home Alone on repeat). But whats the season without Elf, Home Alone 1&2 and Trading Places.
Copious amounts of wine and champagne has been drank, dancing around my sisters kitchen to the best Christmas songs was involved. Santa was also kind to me this year bringing me some beautiful gifts, candles, make-up, The Sartorialist Closer, a book I've been wanting for some time and the most gorgeous lime green coat which will brighten up any cold, dark winter day.
I hope you Christmas has been as special as mine and Santa remembered to fill your stockings with wonderful surprises.

2013 has been a great year, its been a time for change, starting university and meeting new people. Writing on this blog has been the best part, I've really got into the swing of writing freely and passionately about everything that I love in and out of the fashion world.
Next stop 2014, time for a fresh start? Maybe make a resolution? I really do try but only to fail two days in. Oh I do have one, to learn a Language, French being my chosen one. Weather or not I will succeed is the question at hand but whats one to know without trying.

Happy 2014

Love Faye x

Fashion News: The Ban of Angora Fur

Take a look at this beautiful, timid and helpless animal, this is the Angora Rabbit and the production of Angora fur has been in the news recently.
An investigation by PETA, has revealed how these animals have been treated just to produce clothes.

"Angora, which is used to make gloves, sweaters, hats and scarves, comes from the fur of long-haired angora rabbits, and 90 per cent of angora wool is produced in China, where PETA Asia’s recent investigation has revealed that workers often rip the fur from the rabbits’ skin in handfuls while they’re conscious. As you would imagine, these timid animals are in agony while this happens." (Source: http://blog.peta.org.uk/2013/12/more-stores-stop-angora-production-thanks-new-look-and-esprit/)

I am personally saddened to say I own a jumper that contains Angora fur, thinking of how these animals have been treated  just for fashion is unbelievably disgusting. I couldn't bring myself to watch the video filmed by PETA of the happenings in the Asian factories.

With today's advances in fiber production it's crazy to think we even need to wear real fur. However if some do feel the need Angora should be produced with the animal's welfare in mind.
I am pleased to say a variety of retailers including H&M, New Look and Espirit have stopped the production of Angora Fur until "credible certification and proof that it complies with according policies on animal welfare" are in place. (Source: http://blog.peta.org.uk/2013/12/more-stores-stop-angora-production-thanks-new-look-and-esprit/).

Lets hope what has now been brought to our attention makes us think twice when purchasing a garment made with Angora fur, at least till we have proof that our beautiful furry friends are being treated with care and love, its only what they deserve.
