Some summer time reading

Sadly I'm not venturing to a sunny far away country this year, so there goes relaxing by the pool with a book or scooting around a foreign island on the back of a Vespa (oh Ibiza I miss you). Instead I'll be relaxing in the garden with a selection of books I picked up at my local library (you readers know how much I love the library) and a large glass of homemade lemonade.

I've been reading The Sartorialist blog for a few years and was very happy to find a copy of his first book 'The Sartorialist' by Scott Schuman in my local library. The book has an amazing selection of street style photos, each capturing your eye in their own way whether it be an amazing hair colour, a gorgeous pair of shoes or just a beautiful smile.
I also picked up a classic 'Emma' by Jane Austin, I'm only a few pages in but the old style English language is so romantic.
Since seeing Grace Kelly in Alfred Hitchcock's 'Rear Window' I've loved her and I can't wait to read this biography True Grace by 'Wendy Leigh'. The book is filled with photos and words from Grace's life, from becoming a movie star to the Princess of Monaco.

For the rest of the summer I will be working, preparing for university and looking forward to drinking cider and partying at Leeds Festival in late August. Oh and my birthday...yippee!!

So it's July and the weekend is set to be hot and sunny (finally). I'm probably about to jinx it with what I'm about to say, but I'm so excited for the Autumn/Winter 13 trend reports.

It seems like forever since the Autumn/Winter 2013 shows back in February but now I can finally tell you the trend reports are out!
As you already know the Autumn/ Winter season is my favourite, the colours, the textures I'm head over heels in LOVE with it all. Enjoy

The Rebel at Saint Laurent and Chanel - Leather jackets, chunky boots and lots of attitude.

The Boy Girl at Stella McCartney and Rag and Bone - Oversized coats and wide leg trousers (check out the cute little hats from Stella McCartney's A/W13 collection, I'm in LOVE).

The Romantic at Givenchy and Alexander McQueen - Historical Queen with printed jewel coloured fabrics and lace head dresses.

The Maximalist at Tom Ford and Fendi - Think a clash of sequins, fur and gorgeous embroidery.

Fashion Graduates of 2013

Last year I was lucky enough to attend Graduate Fashion Week at Earls Court. I had an amazing day zipping around London on the tube with the college girlys. The day was full of fashion and fun, plus a great trip to the V & A (now one of my favourite museums!) and a cheeky visit to Buckingham Palace.
This year has been so hectic, completing garments and sketchbook work meant I was unable to attend....booo!
However I didn't miss out on all the amazing graduate collections that go on display at Graduate Fashion Week, the fashion graduates from my college have created some amazing pieces. These were displayed in an exhibition along with sketchbook work and some lovely images the students had taken whilst at Graduate Fashion Week. Some of the work even appeared in the official GFW newspaper 'Tewnty2' and also on vogue.com.
My favourite collections from the Bradford College graduates were '195' a collection inspired by 'line and geometric structure'. I loved the monochrome, structure and modern feel this collection had. One of the pieces from this collection appeared on vogue.com and you can really tell why. It stood out from the crowd!
'Pile Up' was another collection that I loved, a menswear collection inspired by 'the print work of Frank Stella. Featuring digital printing and lazer cutting in innovative fabrics'. The bright colours, printed and unusual fabrics caught my attention from this collection, it was also great to see a menswear collection. Pieces from the 'Pile Up' collection featured in the GFW Twenty2 newspaper.

All the hard work was really worth it

So as my college years come to an end (sob), I realise all the hard work was really worth it (see above, all designed and hand made by me).

The final part of the process was completed on Monday evening when my collection went down the college fashion show runway (I will admit a few tears were shed).
Its been an amazing two years, filled with hard work, lots of giggles and some very bizarre conversations. Girls well done...We did it!!

Well onwards and upwards...Next stop Fashion Buying and Management at The University of Huddersfield. Eek....

News - Primark launches online via ASOS

I love twitter, its great to find out all the goings on in the fashion world and I recently re-tweeted a very interesting tweet from @BritishVogue

I was very surprised to find out that Primark is now available to buy online via asos.com, 'a very limited trial' of just 20 pieces went on sale from the 5th June. The womenswear pieces range from tee's, denim jackets and dungarees to prom dresses (I love the spotty crop top).

I myself think this is a great idea, yes not all will agree but Primark offers on trend pieces at low prices and with the climate we are in everyone loves a bargain.

'A spokesperson told the Guardian that the launch would give the high street store some insight in to online retailing'.
