Weekend Inspiration #15

I can often flick through multiply magazines and not find an inspirational styling piece. 
Style is personal and you’re not always going to see a piece  that’s suitable for your figure, age or lifestyle. However sometimes you get two for the price of one, beautiful styling inspiration and wonderful home interior inspiration. 

These gorgeous images have come from The Sunday Times Style Magazine. It’s well known by my Husband that the only reason I buy The Sunday Times is for the style supplement and no wonder with features such as these. 

Here’s to spring sartorial and English country houses.

Weekend Inspiration #14

If there's something that is definitely needed come the weekend its a break from our daily routines and sometimes a break from life in general. That's why in late January I headed to Stow House in the beautiful yet very cold Aysgarth in the Yorkshire Dales. Aysgarth is small but sweet, the waterfalls were stunning and a sunny yet cold and crisp day created the perfect backdrop.

Stow house was incredibly beautiful, an interior design dream. The decor has been well thought out 

by the owners Sarah and Phil and features a brilliant mix of classic and nostalgic, with added quirky details (the badger on the wall in the top floor bedroom to be exact).

My favourite room of the house, the lounge bar, was truly beautiful. A vintage bar complete with your favourite alcoholic beverages, coffee table books, log burning stove and gorgeous pink and navy blue sofa's adorned with printed birds. We stayed in the Badger room on the top floor of the house which gave us beautiful views of the Yorkshire Dales and the bedroom like the rest of the hotel was beautifully decorated. 

After a delicious home cooked English breakfast in the dinning room we headed home. I very much can't wait for my next free weekend so I can head back to Asygarth and the beautiful Stow House.

Weekend Inspiration #11 - The Yorkshire Sculpture Park KAWS Exhibit

From top to bottom  - All This Time, Along the Way, Good Intentions and Small Lie.

Last Sunday I took a trip to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, which is an amazing outdoor space filled with art and sculptures to inspire our weekends.
I particularly went to see the new KAWS exhibit, KAWS is a US artist born in New Jersey. He creates characterful sculptures and complex colourful paintings that blur the boundaries between contemporary culture and fine art.
During his time as an artist KAWS has created many characters that resemble many cartoons and brand mascots from modern culture, including The Simpsons, Sponge bob and Mickey Mouse. But for them to appeal to an array of audiences KAWS adds emotion and meaning to them.
For instance Small Lie (which stands at 10 meters tall) 'looks like a child caught out telling a fib, knowing it has done wrong – head down in embarrassment and knees knocked in a protective, humbled, position. Being made of wood and with a long nose it brings to mind the story of Pinocchio, told to children as a thinly veiled warning about the consequences of lying.' (ysp.co.uk)
The KAWS exhibition will be at The Yorkshire Sculpture Park till 12.06.16, if you get chance this long Easter weekend I would definitely recommend a visit. 

Weekend Inspiration #10

 

Last Sunday (post cocktail the night before) I snuggled up on the sofa and watched what can be only described as the best classic romance ever - LOVE STORY. If you haven't already seen it then I suggest you do, if not only to see the beautiful Ali MacGraw wearing some super stylish, preppy, 70's fashion.

Outfits Reinvented

Sorry for the lack of posts lately - returning to University has proven somewhat stressful. I'm in my second year and yes there seems to be a whole lot more pressure (and assignments.) Anyway, I finally had time to take some outfit photos - YAY! I'm trying to reinvent my wardrobe and try new ways of styling my old possibly over worn garments. Here goes - skirt over trousers. A trend seen on the Prada catwalks many many moons ago (Fall 2012 to be precise) but I wanted to put my own spin on it. Making the trousers skinny and the skirt shorter but keeping the structure. I complemented the ever growing colder season with a loose roll neck and vintage clutch. 

I love this outfit! The navy and black compliment each other and the clutch adds a neutral touch. Overall the perfect Sunday outfit.
